Sutton Foster--Giveaway!

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 3:11 PM

Ok, I know not everyone who reads my blog is as big of a musical theatre nerd as myself...so I'm guessing not all of you know who Sutton Foster is. All I have to say about that is a big fat SHAME ON YOU.

I know what kind of musical theatre consumer you are. You love Wicked. You know who Idina Menzel is. You think Phantom of the Opera is one of the greatest musicals of all time. And of course you've seen Les Mis. So you think you're pretty cool stuff. Wrong, I say!

Have you seen Throughouly Modern Millie? Have you heard the soundtrack to "Little Women" (yes, the Broadway musical)? Do you know that Sutton Foster has won 2 Tony Awards? She's phenomenal.   She is absolutely adorable. AND SHE'S COMING TO BYU Sept. 5th and 6th. It is going to be an absolute DELIGHT.  (And I could tell you some things about her. A few of my friends have been in Broadway shows with her. She hates wearing makeup and dressing up. Or I could tell you about the time my (then-single) friend, Kyler Kronmiller, asked her out on a date after her show. The details are fuzzy, but I remember it involved some awkwardness).

Leave a comment telling me why you need a night out to hear this diva. She will melt your heart and make you laugh all in one breath. I prom dress! Don't believe me? Look her up on Youtube.

*Tickets are for Friday, Sept 5th and you'll be seated next to me and Victor Schmictor. Winner will be announced one week from today.

  1. I AM so familiar with Thoroughly Modern Millie (although haven't seen the musical) AND I know the sountrack to Little Women and LOVE IT. I would give my right arm to see Sutton Foster! I have converted my husband to like musicals and theatre (for the most part) and this would be another experience to convert him! Please oh PLEASE!

  2. Me! I want to go! Mostly because I just need a night away from my kids. Four kids sounded like a good idea but now I'm mostly crazy.

  3. I have been a huge Sutton Foster fan for years - through Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women, Millie, Shrek, and Anything Goes. I have never seen her perform live. It would make my year to see her this fall. Besides, a night out with Molly, Vic, AND Sutton? That is the trifecta of awesomeness!

  5. Sutton is such a great actress. She is wonderful in Violet. I've loved listening to lots of her roles on my way to work each morning and on the way home. It's my time to air back and belt out the songs like I'm on the stage ;-) my 4 month old son is my audience! I've heard lots of her interviews on Sirius and she is funny to boot. Id love to be able to see her and indulge a little more in something I love. Plus sitting next to a pro like you would be the cherry on top of the cake!

  6. Oh I love Sutton Foster! Having a night out with you and Vic and seeing her perform would be so lovely! My dad died earlier this year and this week has been especially hard, so this would be a ray of sunshine in my week to win these tickets!

  7. I love Sutton Foster! I fell in love with her acting and personality on Bunheads. This performance happens to fall on the end of my first week back teaching preschool. It would be such a treat to go and watch Sutton perform.

  8. I can't enter this contest due to geography, but I'll say that I'm familiar with Sutton Foster from Bunheads and have enjoyed her in interviews, as mentioned above.

Also, I have to ask. Is "I prom dress" something the kids are saying these days instead of "I promise" (I'm 33) or did autocorrect take over on a tablet while you were writing this?:) At any rate, it got me giggling.:)'

  9. I want this for my Mom and Dad. They have been going back and forth from Brigham City to St george for the past 6 years because my sister has been very ill. They literally have had no life of their own and have sacrificed time, money and all of their energy taking care of my sister and her 4 children. They need a night out soooo badly and I know that they would love this! 11. Astonishing has been my main audition song for YEARS thanks to Sutton Foster (and Little Women.) That's what she is- Astonishing!!! When people got tired of me singing Astonishing, what did I move on to? I Know It's Today- another Sutton masterpiece from Shrek. She is one of the most talented, beautiful performers! Did you catch her makeup-less performance in this year's Tony Awards? I'm sure she loved that! I am a musical theatre lover, but have never been able to afford a trip to New York to hear/see her. This is my chance! PLEASE! I can't miss this!

  12. Okay, this is the third time I've written this comment because I'm having technical difficulties with posting, but I'm committed to voicing my borderline fangirl love of Sutton Foster. First saw her in "Flight of the Conchords" (which show/music I sincerely hope you're familiar, if not, Google "Business Time"), then Bunheads, then everything she's in via YouTube and Netflix. She's so magnetic, you almost don't have a choice once you start watching her. Even Collin, who has limited tolerance for musicals, adores her! Seeing her perform live would be every sort of awesome. I would love to win these tickets for what I'll admit are fully selfish reasons - I just really, really, *really* love Sutton Foster.

  13. I'm one of those nerds who love musicals. The funniest thing my husband ever said was when we went to see Chicago....we were kinda tired so maybe we should have gone another night....but, when it was over, I asked him, "How did you like it?" He said, "Well, it was ok, except for all that singing and dancing." It was really funny and an understatement on how much I love musicals and how much he really didn't. I miss him so much...he was the funniest man. I could use a night out on the town to listen to a very talented person and remember my funny funny husband.

  14. I would absolutely LOVE to win! My husband and I rarely get a date night and we have three littles, two of which are on the autism spectrum. :) I have had nine surgeries in the last few years, the worst of which were my two brain surgeries. So this would be amazing! Thanks for the opportunity, you're wonderful! <3

  16. Oh, my. I ADORE her! The hubs and I have not had a night out in months. An evening with Sutton AND the Hubs AND you & Victor? That would be...I can't even...my head might explo... The building would catch fire. And flames, flames, from the side of my face. Breathing, no, heaving, breathless...

  19. My Sara has just gotten back from a rough, but spiritual, week with wonderful young women at girls camp at Mia Shalom. She spent hours and hours churning out blanket orders in time to plan and coordinate an awesome camp for those beautiful young women. I cannot think of a better birthday gift than to treat my lady to a glamorous night she deserves. She too is a theatre nerd at heart and I would love to see that nerd again!
