My Thanks

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 11:51 PM

I'm in San Diego/Carlsbad for 8 days.

I'm with Vic's entire family.

The weather is paradise.

The laughter and games between cousins is paradise.

Peter falling asleep in my arms at the end of a long day at LegoLand is paradise.

Seeing Zoë's entire being light up at the sight of her brother (he drove down with Grandma and Grandpa two days before she and I flew down) and her extended family is paradise.

Running on the beach is paradise.

Time away from the walls and responsibilities of my home is paradise.

There is so much to be thankful for that my heart brims to overflowing.

I have so many thoughts and feelings happening right now. Such interesting discussions on the plane. So many insights. So much is pulling at my heartstrings this evening.

But I wanted to record my bursting thanks for this beautiful world and the beautiful people in it before I rest my weary head. Especially my children. My gratitude for them knows no bounds.

I'm so thankful. So very thankful.

Despite everything. Despite the pain--I'm thankful. I hurt for the lost innocence of my life. But I have to move forward with thanks.

Oh, how I miss her.

  1. Glad you get a getaway. Sad for the missing. What a cute dolly baby she was (and is). I can't think of anything that could possibly help other than she is so loved and adored....and she knows it!! Thank God we know it doesn't end here and there will be another time and place when we will be all together with our loved ones.

  7. Happy thanksgiving.
I grew up in Carlsbad. Love and miss it so much. It's a great place to spend Thanksgiving. When we were growing up, we used to spend Friday down at the duck pond and making ropes courses at the eucalyptus forest. Go eat at Souplantation for me. So yummy. It was also my first job.

  8. Hi Molly,

I found your blog a while back through my sister's blog but never commented. On oct. 24th I had my baby girl and we found out at birth she had CDH (congenital diaphragmatic hernia). She fought 17 days but passed away on nov. 10th. I now ache for her and for the lost innocence of my life (you put it so perfectly). Thank you for your blog and for sharing your story, your kids are beautiful!

I will leave my blog address in case you want to see my cute kiddos :). Joyandaaron.blogspot.com
