This "giveaway" post was written in May.
My children inherited a few quirky qualities from me: sass, enthusiasm, intensity, the need to be around people, and a bit of OCD, to name a few. Lucy got my "tanable" skin, whereas Peter inherited his father's white paste, capable of only an "Irish Tan" (sunburn). Who knows what other traits I will pass down. Hopefully mostly good ones. I do think Peter can carry a tune, so that's a plus. I wonder if he'll be able to flare his nostrils like me. Unrivaled, I tell you. UNrivaled.
But one trait that is undeniably a Jackson trait, straight from his father, is Peter's intense (INTENSE) love of sweets. Chocolate, specifically. So when we were asked to partake of the creamy, sweet deliciousness known as Breyers Blasts!®, it would have been considered a crime punishable by death had I turned it down. Welp, I guess we will have to have some friends over and taste test/review Breyers Blasts!® OREO® Birthday Blast! and Breyers Blasts!® Chocolate REESE’S® frozen dairy desserts. That's killing two birds with one stone--we'll satisfy Peter's love/need of people and socializing as well as his "need" for sweets. It's a win-win.
With Spring in full bloom, summer swiftly approaching, the ducks swimming leisurely in the backyard, and my baby bump growing rapidly by the day, we saw every reason to celebrate the season with the thing that says SUMMER more than anything else: frozen treats. The results of our taste test? The OREO flavor was more popular. Why? It was hard to get a good description from the children as to why they preferred the OREO Birthday Blast! over the Chocolate REESE’S. "Just because." "I liked how it tasted." Those are just a few examples of their articulate product reviewing skills. Me? I also preferred the OREO flavor. Why? Just because. And I liked how it tasted. But Vic? Oh, Vic. His love for peanut butter runs as deeply as his love for chocolate. Sooo...he gets the entire carton of Chocolate REESE’S to himself. Since his birthday is this Sunday, I'm being a kind wife and letting him have at it.
Did you know studies have shown that it is psychologically important for children to know there are a few treats in the house? It's important to involve them in the cooking of baked goods, the dishing up of dessert, and the enjoyment of family time involving dessert. I'm so glad that Breyers and I could provide this for my children. I'm such a good mom! (I say "children" because I am counting Lucy in heaven, whose presence I always feel when we are having fun family activities, as well as the baby in my expanding uterus because I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it as well).
