Lucy Wreath

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 2:41 PM

My sister sent me a link to this croc wreath and suggested I make something like it for Lucy.

I did.

And its perfect.

I hung it on the door on Vic's birthday, anticipating the moment he pulled into the driveway. It isn't fair that his birthday falls during the week of Lucy's tragic death. I try to celebrate both of their lives and honor her while celebrating him. This was a small gesture I thought he would appreciate after a long day of work.

It will stay on our front door until sometime in June after her birthday.

What do you think? It's quite different from the original one over at Recaptured Charm, but I love it.

  2. I loved seeing it in person. It's beautiful. I remember coming to see you and Vic at Primary's on his birthday and what a hard time that was. I am sure Lucy is with him and you always. Thanks again for inviting us this past weekend. Love you.

  4. Molly,
I love it! What a great birthday thought for Vic. David's birthday is on July 7th and Gabe died on the 12th. How does Vic handle that. David said his birthday will always be horrible now. I hope I can honor both of them as you do. I'm open for tips if you have them. Our one year mark is coming up and the more I anticipate it the harded life seems to get.
    Love Amy

  8. I thought of you and yours at least a hundred times yesterday. Mass was beautiful. The Gospel and subsequent homily were about how we are each endowed with certain, special gifts that build the Kingdom o Heaven living stone by living stone (I am Catholic and this is a core belief in our faith). I saw precious Lucy so clearly sitting in that church, the church I have grown up in since my own baptism 44 years ago. I saw your lovely girl and all that she graces Heaven with. I know that the unfairness of it all is deep and aching and threatens to pull focus from the joy that is Lucy's precious, precious life. I fought of your girl, beautiful blue eyes, spun gold curls, spitfire that she is. I thought of her and smiled. And I hope for even a tiny millisecond that takes the sting away from losing her.

Best part about this Gospel reading...it is from the letter of Pau to St. Peter. Your children are named well dear one.

    God Bless you!

  12. I have read your blog off and on for the last few years...I guess I didn't realize that your little one passed the same week as your husbands birthday. Oddly...our son passed the same week as my husbands birthday as well, and he says the same thing...it's hard to have a "happy" birthday after something so tragic. The wreath is lovely. What a neat way to remember her.
