Easter and Owning my Life

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 1:06 PM

I just have a few things to say. First of all--

Is he not the cutest? I should put that in caps because I'm yelling it--

IS HE NOT THE CUTEST!!!????!!!! I mean...fir rill. Look at him. Tell me you saw a cuter boy on Easter. Not possible. That pink bow tie, that suit. His hair. That smile! Couldn't stop nibbling him all day. What a rascal.

Second of all--I've gone nearly a month with no Internet. That's right. A month. No Internet. And something magical happened. I started owning my life. I felt like everything I did was some fabulous gem and my own little secret. I was living my life for me! I wasn't reporting in, checking up, posting this, posting that, thumbs up, commenting, comparing...I was living. I almost felt giddy. Like, "Peter and I just had the most fabulous day at Sugarhouse Park with Rachael and Liam and no one knows it! This is so exciting. This is our little experience to keep." Yes, that's what it was like.

Thirdly--Am I celebrating my new MacBook? Yes, I am. I'm thrilled to be able to watch my one T.V. show in bed (Modern Family), check and return emails, and edit and store photos. I do look forward to sharing more with you about the fabulous books I've been reading, things I've been learning and thinking about, family weddings, and the darn things Peter has been up to. (HAIRCUT--he got a MAJOR haircut). But all in all, I'm happy to have had such a liberating life-balancing experience of being away from the Internet.

I'll see you later this week!

  1. Good for you. I am not sure I could go cold turkey. But that is because I work at night and we are allowed online. It is when I blog. But at home, I rarely use it.

And yes. You little guy is so cute.

  10. I completely hear you on the anti-technology front. I sometimes WISH we could go without internet for a while. And then I don't. But it sure does suck time away.
