St. Lucia Day

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 10:21 PM

As winter nights get longer, and we enjoy less and less light and warmth from the sun, some Scandinavian and Catholic traditions celebrate St Lucia Day with sweet breads and a St Lucia procession where a young girl is chosen to wear a crown with lighted candles to stave off the dark and share her light with others.

At this special time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we remember also our sweet Lucy and the light and love she brings to our life. We want to join with you in celebration of the many people in our lives who impart to us of their light and love. In sharing with others we truly celebrate the babe born in Bethlehem. Thank you for your friendship and the light you impart to those around you. Happy St Lucia Day and Merry Christmas!
Love, The Jackson Family

  4. I was just going to comment exactly as 'Sue' did. I LOVE that you include Lucy in your signature line, and not at the end, but in her rightful place. You have two children right now, irrespective of where they are, and they are your family. Merry Christmas to Vic and Molly and Lucy and Peter!

  11. Miss Molly, my sister's birthday fell on St Lucia day. Sadly she died in her sleep of the adult equivalent of cot death (sudden adult death syndrome) coming up three years ago at the age of 41. Your post sharing a day for rememberance and grief was very meaningful to my family and I am grateful to you for it. Love from our family to yours. xx
