I'm Not Gonna Lie...

don't be fooled by this photo

I have a fantasy. And it is taking hold of me. It is this:

Hoards of people.
At my house.
WORKING.
Painting, patching, sanding, nailing, landscaping, decorating, hanging, scrubbing, organizing...

It kind of consumes me. I have this daydream that somehow, someone from Extreme Home Makeover or Clean House will hear about Lucy and want to come help us. I'm a little obsessed. It's because my house is overwhelming me. And I crave cleanliness and order like nobody's business. I'm a bit OCD about it, in fact. And I don't care. I like it that way.

So between the show, family reunions, summer parties, taking care of Peter, church callings, and life in general, we have still not completely unpacked and organized our house. Light fixtures need to go in, sprinkler heads replaced--oh, the list goes on. And I'm about to lose it. So instead, I sit on the couch and wish I had fifteen men to order around.

I won't confess any of my other crazy dreams to you at this point.
I just really had to get that off my chest.
Carry on.

  5. Molly, I feel the same way. We've lived here 5 months and there are still stacks of things that aren't put away, pictures that have no place to hang, walls with nothing to hang on them, paint I hate, carpet that sucks, a yard with little blooming in it, an empty living room (well it has a bouncy house and a book-case!) and there's not much that anyone can do about it. I feel guilty feeling that way because we have a great house and a great life, but it all continues to bother me.

Good, we've both vented. Now, let's not worry about what we can't change and just pretend that it's all going to get done some day!! :-)

  6. Ummm.... we have now been in our new home almost a year, and it still isn't all the way unpacked. Does that make me bad? :) Trust me, I have those visions too. Or the one where I could just ignore everything else and only work on the house, or the one where I had all the money I would need to do all the things I want to on the house. Yeah. I have multiple visions. Maybe I will just leave mine alone and come help with yours!! Love you!
