30 Days of Thanks #5

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 8:00 PM

I tell the Vickster that he can't cut his hair that short. He has a pin head. Ladies, are you with me?

It's 8 p.m. and my husband is still at work.
I didn't sleep well last night. No sir. Peter had a huge blow-out today. I worked out too hard yesterday and I'm a little too sore. Many errands to run today. The grocery store, the Wal-mart, the bank, the library. House work never ends. And it doesn't help when you're OCD like me and want things perfect 24/7 (that'll be thrown out the window once pooper starts crawling). And I'm really not OCD though I've joked about it several times. Heck, I probably am. I haven't started my Relief Society lesson for this Sunday.

Have you ever been unemployed? Had no money? Stress? Bills, student loan payments up the ying-yang? A baby on the way, no food...

We have.

And I promised that once Vic got a job I would never complain. I've done pretty well.

I am so thankful for Vic's job. He's a great attorney and works for a great firm with great people.

I'm so thankful for Vic's job.

I'm so thankful for Vic's job.

Not just the money (we ain't rollin in it) but all that it provides Vic and our family.
Stability
Courage
Growth
Involvement
Use of talents
Sense of worth
Pride
Connections
Chance to Serve
Incredible Health Benefits that don't come out of our paycheck (Praise the heaven's above)

I am so thankful for Vic's job.

  1. I agree. I like Vic with alittle more hair. He is such a handsome guy. Love your post. I remember the days you didn't have a job. Last your house you were going to get and you two handled it with grace. Take care Mom

  2. I am thankful for my husband's job too, especially in this economy.

    =)

PS. And you're right, Vic's hair is best longer. But he's always a good looker!

  3. Actually,
I like short hair the shorter the better... my hubby had his like Vic's for awhile and it drove my daughter crazy.

I can relate with the whole job thing. It is hard when you miss your sweetheart... what I always forget... it is hard on them too. Being the provider isn't easy.

It sounds as though you have the important things... money makes life easier when you can pay the bills. My sister and her hubby have been struggling for over two years... and they have five kids so I totally understand.

Have a Wonderful Day Miss Molly.

  4. Longer hair is just my personal preference, but your husband actually looks like Dennis Quaid in this photo:)

Yep, jobs are a good thing!!!

  5. Sue--My siblings all said he looked like Dennis Quaid when we were dating! I lean more towards Matt Damon. Either way--he's a hottie.

  7. Vic, have to agree w/Molly on the hair... you'll have to grow it. I am also very thankful for my husband's job, and I do remember a time when I said I would never complain again if he could just work and I could just stay home with my kids. I guess I need to do a better job about the complaining part because he's got the awesome job part down. Great post.

  8. Molly, I don't comment often, but I am a faithful reader...
I wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your "thankful" posts. So inspiring.
And I was never thankful for my husbands steady job when he had it. We have been running our own business for a few years, and it is really tough right now. I am thankful for the money we are earning, and I never realized what a blessing a steady job was before. Thank you for being so positive. You and your family continue to be an inspiration to me.
    :)

  9. We're THERE Sister...
Been out of the job since February. Praying every day that something will come...
I won't complain either when something comes.
    Although...I may need a reminder here & there :)

  10. when my husband and i were dating he had just gotten home from his mission. he had completed zero years of college before his mission, which is just fine. he worked to save money. i'm just saying, come this may he'll FINALLY be done with school, after 7 years! and i'm so grateful that he decided to go to graduate school. SO GRATEFUL. i've been so excited to be done with the student life, but at the same time i know i'll miss some things about it. i'm thinking it will be nice to have an actual income, which we have had in almost 2 years b/c we're living off of student loans. thank goodness for that!!! i'm just saying, i like that we're not having to pay them off right now. i like that our bills are few and manageable. i like the simplicity of student life. i'm excited for the upcoming life too. nervous for the bills, but excited for more memories of a new kind of "starting out.":-)
