And the Weiner Is...

By Molly Bice-Jackson - 11:23 AM

There are some words which, over time, lose their humor and ability to make you laugh.
Weiner is not one of them.

So even though all of you are weiners, I did have to pick just one. As the comments came rolling in, I thought it would be impossible. They were all incredible, and I especially loved getting to know you better. But as I took a moment to thoughtfully read through them this morning, my heart and my wet eyes knew this was the one:

Step by step we come to Thee...Lucy, Peter, Vic and Me.

The symbolism is spot on. The rhythmic cadence perfect for my OCD. I will be saying it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over as I run tomorrow. If the tears and emotions proceeding my ten mile run last Saturday are a foreshadowing of things to come---Vic's going to have to have a sturdy stance and not be afraid of a little moisture. Running is such a metaphor for life.

So congrats to the winner--and Muchos Gracias Granny Sue of Sue's News, Views 'n'Muse!

May I leave you with another little gem? This song and video was shared with me by an 'old friend' (we still haven't really figured out how we know each other). Thank you, Matt. (As a side note, Matt will be writing for my Good Grief blog--almost done, I promise! Not only did Matt share this incredible song with me, he shared the tender story of losing his best friend in a car accident. His friend's baby daughter died as well, leaving a young widow. I know it will touch you and teach you as it did me).

I miss her. I don't know what to do with the missing anymore. I don't know how to deal with the haulted gagging emotions that are trying to get out. For you, my Lucy:

I hope Lucy's laugh touches your heart when you hear it on the CD Sue.

  2. I absolutely know Lucy's laugh will touch my heart, Molly.

And Matt's song already has. I'm in tears over here. I just loved it...the poignancy, humor and passion of it made such a perfect blend. Wow.

I'm glad that you liked the "mantra" for running. It makes me happy to think that you will be saying it over and over again as you take each step tomorrow. It's a very small gift to give, but I'm so thrilled it was what you needed.

And thanks for entering my giveaway! It's always a pleasure to see you on my blog.

Hugs to you and the crew.

  5. Molly,

I have thought about you so many times today. Hoping the mantra, and your sheer strength got you through the race. I'm sure it did, and you did great. I got tears in my eyes when I saw the mantra you picked. So perfect, and great for repeating as you run. I have LOVED the CD with Lucy's laugh on it, that you sent to me as well. I am sure Sue will cherish it too. You are so talented and such an inspiration. I hope your run was everything you wanted it to be.
