30 Days of Thanks

Tuesday, November 6, 2007

The Dwyer family of Park City, UT. Never heard of them? Let me tell you a thing or two. Their youngest son, John, was a Winkie Guard and Citizen of Oz with Vic when we did the Wizard of Oz three years ago (or was it four)? Yes, in case you have forgotten, Vic was a WINKIE and also got to wear green tights as a Citizen of Oz. His specialty? Polishing the Tin Man. NEVER think that you are out of teasing material with Vic.

But I digress.

John Dwyer and I also performed together in Suessical (the Musical!). Kristine, the mother, has always been so nice to me. To this day she still calls me Glinda. John and I are now in our third production together-Peter Pan. He is a Lost Boy, and you all know who I am. This is actually quite humorous since he is 6 foot 3 and I'm almost 5'2". It's fun to be able to push him around, I'll admit. So here's where the Thanks comes in. Get ready...wait for it...THEY GAVE ME A CAR. HELLO! I repeat: They gave me a car. A 2000 Toyota Rav4. Cute as a button. I wouldn't care if it was a Buick. Oh, wait, maybe I would care. The point is..they gave me a Peter Pan car. It is mine to use when and however I like until the show is over. Can you believe it? I've been on time to every rehearsal, I've gotten to go grocery shopping during the day and run errands and even visit friends. Some of you may be going into shock at this point because you are realizing that I have been a stay-at-home mom for almost a year and a half now and haven't had a car. It's true. I cannot tell a lie. We were this close (picture it), to buying a new car for me when the Dwyer's offered to loan me theirs for the next few months. The timing is perfect because it gives us time to save up a little more cash (and sell the CJ-5...any takers?) before making our new purchase. To my knowledge, the Dwyer's don't read my blog (but nor do my favorite hand me down clothes or other items for which I am grateful...) but I want to thank you for your generosity and kindness. What a blessing! Vroom, vroom!

  1. What kind and generous friends you have! At first I thought you meant forever, but until the show ends is plenty! Have fun driving around looking at cool houses while Vic's at work each day!

Also, I wanted to tell you that Paul and I started a Gratitude Journal a little while ago and it is FUN. I highly recommend doing something like this. Every night we write down one thing we're grateful for, and it has been really so funny to do it with him. Having your eyes open to all the great things in your life is magnificent too. You should try it, I think you'd like it! (Maybe when you finish the 30 days things.)

  2. Molly,
Wow, what nice friends. That is truly something to be thankful for. AND, NO I cannot believe you've been a stay-at-home mom without a car! How have you not lost your mind?!!! I would go insane if I couldn't strap my munchkins in the car and take them out of the house!

Oh- and thanks for your detailed comments on our blog. We really enjoy reading them. And, to answer another question you asked in a comment a while ago...no...we aren't planning any holiday trips to Utah. I will probably bring the girls in March.

Thanks so much for reading our blog and for keeping yours so current so that we know what you're doing!

  3. relate to the no car thing. My therapist is working me through that point in my life. Enjoy-your worth it(your worth the Rav, not a buick)! Jenny
