Momma I'm a Big Girl Now...

By Vic - 12:38 PM

So Lucy thinks she's a big girl. She LOVES sitting on the bar stools at the kitchen counter. Last night, while Vic was working late, she and I enjoyed a lovely dinner together. It was hilarious! She sat on the stool next to me, spoon in hand, feet kicking with delight, bib in place...and she went to town on her spaghetti and applesauce. I didn't even have to help her. We just sat there like two old girlfriends eating at the corner diner. She would occasionally stop eating to take a drink from her sippy and then cast a glance my direction---once she caught my eye she'd grin from ear to ear. I couldn't stop laughing! I can't believe my little girl is growing up! The song from Hairspray, "Mamma, I'm a Big Girl Now" kept playing in my head.

Speaking of "Hairspray", Poppa Bice took us to see it Saturday night--it was a kick! My dad and I were tapping our toes and smiling at each other, then we'd look over at Vic and he looked like he was nearly asleep. Just goes to show who the true musical theatre people are. Though, Vic did lean over to me about twenty minutes into the movie and whisper, "She's the cutest chubby girl I've ever seen." That really made me smile. John Travolta was dissapointingly the weakest character, with Michelle Pfeiffer at a close second. Christopher Walken, however, was brilliant. A fun date night movie for sure. (if you can count going to a movie with your father/father-in-law a date night!) The rules change once you're married with kids. Has anyone else seen this fun flick? What are your thoughts? Any other movies you've recently seen that you'd reccommend?

  1. Ever since Luke was born and with another boy on the way, I feel like Allie and I are "The GIRLS". I totally know what you mean about feeling like it's a "little girlfriend time" when it is just you and your daughter- so FUN! Oh and Hairspray is on our list of movies we would like to see.

  9. Ok actually, our last name is spelled JENSEN! Wow, you know I didn't think it was that big of a deal...but this really might affect our relationship. I mean, you can't even spell our name right. That kind of makes us feel a little uncomfortable. Maybe we should wait a little while for the second date...

HA HA! No, we seriously had a great time! You guys are lots of fun. Thanks!
